any public ink on you? I guess on a guy, anything above the waist is public...

the thing about a cello is, because of it's size, it covers the range of human voices, they say. Plus you get to cuddle them while you're playing. A violin, you more have to put a diaper over your shoulder so you can burp it...

The chain on the dog tags looks very realistic.  Very nice.

In my DH's defense, as he was trying to reverse the error of calling my butt the size of  a cello   ;) .... He said that what he meant was that a human body is more the size of a cello than a teeny tiny violin.  And that if one were to get f-hole tatoos that they would have to be large or it wouldn't look right.

Still it was a funny moment...the look on his face when he realized how that comment could be misinterpreted.   ;D

I did a search for f-hole tattoos but didn't find much.  Post a link bluekygirl.

I did find the Man Ray pic Le Violon d'Ingres.    But it seems that as a tattoo the f-holes are up to high on her back.

Definitely too high on the back. For starters, I'd say the lower eye should relate to the iliac crest about the same as a real ff goes with the lower corner's purfling.

With everything else in proportion, that could be really hot. Hold me back, or better still, just hold me...

Down, boy, down!

I  found that f-hole tattoo to be too high, like beeswing said, but also too thick looking.  I would want it more delicate and thin, and more at the waist area.  Maybe even smaller in length.

For upper eye you could treat the lower margin of the rib cage as the upper corner, and site it accordingly.

I don't find it too much too thick, but too dark, and the nicks look clumsy to me. I'd like to see it with a crisp outline, your choice of shading inside.

Yup, that's how I'd like to see it, alright   :P ;D  8)

That's all I've got to say <and furthermore, I'd like to see square ends on the wings, so you get those little commas at the eyes. I still think they should be full-size w.r.t. the topographical points of hip bone crest and rib cage edge, but that's just me saying.>

The one I saw at the tattoo expo was perfect; positioning, size and detail. Black outline and redish brown shading.

Look!!  Look!!!   I am a coward no more!  So, I had this performance on Saturday--rehearsals from 9-11:30 and then a 2 hour break until the performance.   With nothing to do for 2 hours we drove around and, lo and behold, there was a tattoo place.  My husband said, "You should go get that tattoo you always wanted."  And I said, "OK."  And I did!!!!   It's very cool.   And it hardly hurt at all--like the same level of pain as a splinter or a bee-sting, maybe.  It cost $58 and took 10 minutes.

Check it out.

edit:  For some reason I can't get my ISP link to work.  Hang on a sec.
OK...I figured it out...pilot error  ;D  I spelled "tattoo" wrong in my links.

Welcome to the wonderful world of INK!  Did the artist mention Tattoos are like Lay's Potato Chips? (Betcha can't get just one...)  Of everyone I know, I know two people who got one and didn't get another.  BOTH didn't get a second because the first one got messed up somehow...

congrats.  Looks great.  Yeah, they're addictive alright.  There's always talk about how everyone regrets their tats later in life, but a massive survey revealed that the reason they regretted them was due to the quality or an artist's mistake.  No one who gets a good tattoo ever seems to regret it.

I've been thinking about a 2nd, but I can't think of any other spot other than my ankle where I would want one.  But, if I did have a location, I would get the first few bars of my fav. violin concerto.

 ;D

OK....bluekygirl....you're next!!!!!!

ya know, the actual process isn't so much painful as it's annoying.  It ends up just feeling like a sunburn when it's all over.

Yeah, exactly...or maybe like a scrape or rugburn.  Not anything at all.  And even when he was doing the tattoo, it would get to a point where I thought "Oh, I'm gonna clench my teeth from the pain" but then he would stop and move to a different spot and then the whole thing was done.  So quick.  I didn't expect it to be quick.

That looks great Heidi.   All ink is addictive - where/when is the next one?

there's a man that lives just a few miles from me that can wear a fiddle out. he has fiddle tatto on the inside of his fore arm the full length from the wrist to the elbow nearly.  he's one of the best fiddlers around this part of the country.

I'm coming back from a fiddle camp. There was someone called Denise(from dunnega)l, who had an f-hole tatto on the left arm.
