Fiddle Tattoos

Well there is not any other place really suitable for this topic.... so I thought that " accessories" might be ok.

I am interested in finding out those of you who have a "violin or fiddle tattoo" ...... Ive found very few online.

You should expand this to include tatoos you would like to get...

I'm a chicken and so I have no tatoos or weird piercings beyond my double pierced ears, BUT I have always wanted to get a 'treble clef' on my right leg on the outside part of my ankle.   ;D   But I'm way too chicken....

I might chicken out too.... but I want an fiddle playing  angelic / fairy tattoo (really small) on my lower back. I also want some little viney stuff on the sides. Ill probably have to get someone to draw it up for me.

Been thinking about a fiddle tattoo on my right forearm (left arms completely tattooed), drawn the basic outline.

The coolest Fiddle tatto I've ever seen was on this young woman at the last tattoo and piercing show. Simply two F-Holes tattooed on her back, her waist the C-Bout her hips the lower bout.

I'd post a photo of mine, but it goes from my right knee to my left wrist. Maybe in Adult sauna... Naw.  :P

Yup, pretty sure it's Le Violon d'Ingres by Man Ray. <see AS>

no tats on me except for a self-inflicted accidental pencil stab on the left inside upper arm (right where you'd expect (or not) a pocketed pencil to poke you.)

I have a couple of tattoos.   One on my back ( a wizard)and one on my thigh ( an owl ).
I did consider a fiddle.   There's a company advertising in "Fiddler Magazine" that have this picture of a guy, riding a penny fathing bike, with a fiddle on his back.   I seriously considered that but my wife had final choice!.

Heh. Thats a good thing Adam. I can tell you first hand, tattooing yourself is a bad idea!

I wouldn't do anything irreversible like piercing, tattoos,...

Nicolas, Piercings will close and heal if you take the ring out & tattoos can be removed without scarring.

I do not advocate body modification. In fact I discourage those ask about getting tattoo's or at least attempt to get them to rethink it.

Nephus... you kinda have the whole angelic thing going on!!  8)  Kind of interesting to hear everyones thoughts on the concept of tattoos. I never in a million years thought that I would ever get one... and I may still not .... but if I do it will be the perfect one for me!

It was also in a movie.  If I weren't such a wuss and I went for big tatoos I would consider the f-holes on the waist.  It is[/b] sexy.

No tats...though I toy w/ it....apparantly though I've been informed I must wait till I've weaned the boy.  Tat shops won't let you get em if you are nursing...on a funny not violin type topic...there are some very old school people at my DH's church who are VERY anti tatoos. When their daughters ran off and got them w/o permission they about died of a heart attack (mind you the girls were 18 adn 19 and didn't need their permission).  So to be a snot about it I said I was getting one in just the right spot so the baby would have something to look at while he was nursing.  Perhaps now that he is obsessed w/ the violin when I practice I should just go get a violin tat there lol...Oh wait won't matter b/c he won't be seeing that region when I'm allowed to get one anyway.

yeah, I got this one about a year or so ago, never had the time to get it shaded though.  I'm saving that for after the wedding.  It's very symbolic to me.

Here's from my writeup at a body mod website of my reasoning and experience, although I'm just gonna put up the reason here:
Quote
When we were all children, at one time or another we all believed that if we tried hard enough, we could take flight and soar through the sky like a great bird. Eventually, we realized that this was impossible and stopped trying. That is the terrible injustice of childhood, the death of a dream. We spend our lives avoiding what we've been told is impossible, even if we believe that we could do it if we just tried hard enough. That's one of the many things my first tattoo means to me. I have wings to remind me that I should try to fly, no matter what anyone else says.

I think anyone who walks into a shop, points to a picture on the wall and says "I want that, it looks cool!" is missing the point... and unfortunately that's what the rest of us get judged by.  If the violin, or any similar instrument, is an important part of your life.. then f-holes make sense for you.  Our bodies are our temples, and I have yet to be to any sort of temple that wasn't decorated.  I've thought about getting either an angel or fairy playing the violin if I end up sticking with this for a few years.

Oh, I had this custom made by an art student.  That's really the only way to go.  Costs a bit more for design fees, but I would never have anything put on me that was premade flash.

Nephus-I like the wings.  Are you eventually going to shade them in?

My husband and I went out to a local bar to see this band with a fiddler and we were talking about the f-hole tatoos.  His comment was, "Well, you're not a violin, you're a cello."

 ;D  ;D  ;D

Talk about awkward silences.  LOL!!  I'm said,  "Excuse me?"    And then he backpedaled as quickly as possible.

Well, a thread to get me to upload an icon...

Ink, gotta love it.  I'm in the long process of getting my shirt done.  Left and right wrists have their chains, you can see my dog tags tattoo'd in my profile.  Nothing above the tags, or further out than the chains on my wrists (long sleeve shirt will cover them).

MC chain on each wrist in fine line, eagle on anchor on right forearm, skull and dagger on left forearm.  Panhead on left shoulder, barbed wire Chevy logo on left bicep, John 8:12 cross on right bicep.  Freebird eagle on left pec, HD eagle on right pec.  Dog tags all the way around my neck (yes, I paid my dues, USN disabled) The pic was the day it was done, they look more realistic now.

I'm in the process of drawing up a killer fiddle tat for the outside of my right forearm, so it's visible when playing (on the part of the forearm you'd see looking at me playing)

I've also got a left elbow tatt drawn up and one for my left trap (between neck and shoulder), but that's a secret till it's done...

Ink isn't for everyone, but I think that everyone that gets ink needs to make sure that it means something to them.  There's nothing really wrong with something out of a book or off a wall, as long as it really means something.  Only the HD eagle on my chest was off the wall, but it was exactly what I wanted at that point in time, all the rest were custom drawn either by me or the tattoo artist.

My wife has a dragon on her right shoulder blade and just got a dragon wrapped around a dagger on her forearm. http://www.makeyourskincrawl.com/images/img10.jpg which is on my artists site that I'm in the process of building in trade for some work.
