Double Violin Hard Case
« on: Nov 12, 2015, 07:58:41 PM »
Right, I've been beaten into submission by my lovely customers asking for a reasonably priced road worthy double case that will also accommodate my 5 String Violins and Octave Violins. I actually need one myself too
So it's in prototype at the moment, just need to sort out all your requirements.
It is as strong a Hiscox - Weight is 4kg - Size is 795mm x 335mm x 160mm

OTHER SPEC SO FAR:
Fully Cushioned body contact and restraints
Two fully integrated bow "compartments"
Two lid compartments for shoulder rests - will suit collapsible KUN or similar.
Two small internal compartments Approx. 60mm x 120mm
Velcro neck restraint
Four D rings for straps.

OPTIONS:
Clip on external music pockets 1 or 2 x A4
Backpack straps
Custom Colours / Designs

IDEAS: (Please Contribute...sensible and serious, all will be considered)
Bottle Opener?

Oh yeh, and the prices will likely start at 200...ish

I look forward to your suggestions ....

I carry my Fiddle plus octave fiddle in an old "leather" double case from Winther..
The special thing about this case is that it is barely wider go heavier than a normal single case (I often get worried that i forgot to put my violin in there, because of the lightness :))
This case would be perfect if it had two more features - a pouch on the outside and a compartment for the shoulder rest.
Sometimes i could wish for "shoulder-bag" strap lugs as well
