Piano trio sheet music for popular music?
« on: Sep 26, 2012, 09:53:46 PM »
Hello.  I recently put together a piano trio.  Right now we play classical stuff.
I've tried looking on the internet for piano trio arrangements of popular 60's and 70's music or even more contemporary.  Especially The Beatles for example.  I found some music for string quartet, but haven't found anything for piano trio.  Any ideas?

Matt

I think it's time to become an arranger. :)

Piano trios are by definition violin, violoncello and piano. Most of the greats in the classical and romantic periods wrote a bunch, and there are many modern ones.

There are perversions for wind instruments like flute or oboe instead of violin, and bassoon instead of 'cello, but this is kind of a non-standard setup. String trios are violin, viola and cello, and there are piano quartets that add a piano to a string trio... Mozart wrote two very beautiful piano quartets, I am very fond of the G minor one. Mozart's string trios are absolutely sublime.
