Hiscox Double Violin Case
« on: Mar 30, 2012, 11:49:40 AM »
I have been using a Hiscox single case for traveling recently and found it to be the best at any price when considering the most important design feature - protection for your instrument. I have also noticed that the thermal insulation has helped greatly with tuning stability. The only criticism that may be leveled at the product is that it looks rather functional.

These cases are at the lower end of the price range, and made in UK  :)

I would love to have a double case as this is what I use for local gigs and I know I could sell them in place of the wooden cases that I currently offer.

So if a double case was available at less than 200 GBP would you be interrested.

Hiscox are my supplier but I have no other connection to them. I would like to present them with some meaningful research. I have kept the options very simple - if you already have a double case but would have considered this option then answer "Yes" as this reflects a demand.

Thanks

I would buy one (and have voted yes) but, I already have a double case. The only thing I would like is more storage space, especially somewhere to put the shoulder rest.

Humm... what if they had such a case with foam wedges to account for the second instrument being an electric.
Now that would be thoughtful.

I've had a single Hiscox for a decade and swear by it, not at it.  The trouble with a double is the variation in second fiddles makes it hard to specify: I use a small five string viola,  Richard wants room for an electric,  Swarbrules needs extra room for his shoulder rest.

Ignore all this pettifogging.  Good luck with your project.

I bought one recently and voted yes.  Lack of storage space has always been my main complaint.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to throw my support behind Hiscox. I bought a Hiscox flyte case for my viola recently specifically because I was heading overseas. I flew to Africa with it where I spent a few weeks playing in 90% humidity and extreme heat, and the Hiscox was superb in those conditions. You really can't beat it for the price.

Ahhh, yes this is an old thread...however, I did not get anywhere with Hiscox, so I have been working on modifying an existing rectangular Hiscox mandolin case into a double violin case. Still have work to do but will post info when completed. Some more info here:
