Alu cases?
« on: May 02, 2009, 05:17:29 PM »
Is there someone on this forum who has some experience with the aluminium violin case as shown in the following links? I saw one on a Dutch site.I think it looks very cool, it is the type of case I was dreaming of for my e-violin. Just like a flight case!

The only thing that bothers me is the price. Can such a cheap case be trustworthy? I am a lot on the road with the electric violin, so I don't want the case to fall apart on the third gig, as you will understand.

Here are the links:

Thanks!

Looks like the same case at half the price.

Yes, I know. But in the end it's easier to order @ the Dutch adress. And it's a reliable adress, that's one thing I am sure of.

Right, and did you see the shipping cost on the e-bay one?
As about the quality, just give Bert a ring and ask his opinion, he's not the sort who'd say it's a good case when it is one of dubious quality. It looks like a cool case, although, I don't particularly like the colour on the interior, but I guess one could easily pimp that a bit. :)

I already e-mailed him, but still got no answer. I guess it's the national holidays. And I like more opinions if available!

Ah, right, yeah, maybe he's on vacation. Would be interesting to hear from people who own one. For that sort of price I might want one myself as well.

Sorry but it looks a bit naff to me...

and may have as much strength as tin-foil [alu- as the name suggests]
dont really think, from the description it is a 'flight-case' semi or full.

Its always buyer beware, I would look SKB, tho their cases are neet and very hardwearing there is little room inside for storage of shoulder rest etc.

Let us know if you go for it, I would be interested to see what quality it is.

Well, I ordered the case and got him 2 days later (big thanks to Bert for that). So far it looks good. Pretty strong, I'd say. And it looks really really cool! Now I am really the hippest violinist in town!  8)

Let's see now how things develop. If I don't post anymore in this topic to complain that means it's good.
