I like it too, need to learn to tap my foot while playing first though :-)

Good choice :)

Thanks, I'm not practising at the moment due to tendonosis but trying to listen to as much English fiddle as I can.

I've been following the Tuttles around on YouTube for a couple of days and lo and behold they've got a secret weapon - DAD!!! this guy makes me cry, somebody tell me when I will ever be able to fiddle that well. Wow can that guy play (not that the others can't)

My favorite was a video of L. Shankar playing his double violin, but the user who posted it closed their account, so I can't link to it for you. However, there's another vid which has that music. Unfortunately, the video is just a series of a few still pics. But, the MUSIC! is there. Here's a link to it: L SHANKAR DOUBLE VIOLIN

I love this one and did not see her listed in this thread

Eileen Ivers on the fiddle (Embedding was blocked)

Eileen Ivers on the fiddle

And I like Jenny (not just for her looks) I even bought her CD and have been working on some her tunes, including this one.

Her old video was removed and the link is broken earlier in the thread. She has her own website http://www.thehotviolinist.com/

She has a excellent lesson on Rolls and Bow Hold.

Really like this video, Kathryn Tickell at the proms, she starts off plating Northumbrian smallpipes then switches to the fiddle, beautiful.

Thank you, that is very nice. Brings back memories from twenty years ago when I saw her at the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, Brittany. I can't remember if she played the fiddle then, though.

Brittany is beautiful, I bet that was an amazing gig!

Lorient may not be the most beautiful city of Brittany, but the festival was really great. Lots and lots of different bands from all celtic nations and from all kinds of musical styles. You could hear the whole range from traditional folk to folk-rock, folk-jazz and folk-punk. The only downside was that I couldn't stand listening to bagpipes for a while afterwards. After ten days of bagpipes (the worst could be heard from a tent on the camping site) I really had enough.  :)

"On my own" from Les Mis has been a recurring earworm lately, so I searched to see if I could find a nice arrangement to learn and play. I found this guy: Jun Curry An on Youtube instead. I'd never heard of him, he's good.

THIS.
I've watched this video about 20 times tonight since a friend sent me it yesterday.

http://youtu.be/UIllz4iHcf8

I can't really explain it but I'm hooked. The way the music, the light, the musician's expression all come together is touching me deeply. PLUS amazing fiddling, of course.
btw I've met the fiddler, Patrik Andersson, once - he was a teacher in a workshop I participated in in Sweden. Great fiddler and a really nice guy.

The actual video is "OK" but I could only dream of playing like this. Sit back quietly with a cup of coffee relax and enjoy.

My current favorite, for sheer fiddle virtuosity:

Adam DeGraff, covering "Sweet Child of Mine". Incredible. How may parts can someone play simultaneously? Sounds like a few fiddles playing along with an electric guitar. Simply amazing. And it doesn't appear that he is multi-tracking.

It almost doesn't seem humanly possible.   :o

So this isn't my favorite version of OBS, but I just like this girl's focus. I also find the foot movement at 1:18 very sexy. Anyway.
