Have a look at the patina on Swarb's mando.

http://www.swarbslazarus.com/

I have played a Gibson of this vintage (just a couple of notes) and it was just like flickinf=g the edge of a crystal glass.

Wow, that dude had a lung transplant ?
God Bless him ... I didn't even know lung transplants were possible...
(Now who's going to knock socialized medicine ??)   >:D   :D

I don't see a mando but I thought he had a hardanger under his chin, with that fancy fingerboard and all ....

He looks like a fun guy to jam with...

Can't find a soundclip on the website... what is it with UK musician websites never having soundclips to sample before you buy ??  ???  ???   :D

How's things going Jeff ?  .
You having mando dreams ??

If you click onto "Band Gear" you'll see a few nice guitars and a nice Sonic as well.

The NHS, no matter what people might say, is a wonderful institution. It saved Swarb's life and has done the same for countless others.

Some might say that he did not deserve a second change having smoked heavily all his life - I'm sure I've seen him play, sing, drink and smoke at the same time - but, I for one, don't want to see another obituary for him for quite some time.

Those old Gibson A's are very fun to play, and the pre-Loar era instruments really aren't all that pricey, considering--at least, here in the US.  Personally, my favorite Gibson was a pre-1920s F-2 that I saw about 15 years ago at a local guitar show.  I spent way too much time playing it, and was very tempted to buy it although I didn't have the money... Still wish I would have gone for it though; it had a great tone!

Right up till he had it done, I remember hearing about him performing hooked up to an oxygen tank and mask. :P

Although a lung transplant is pretty impressive (biggest problem is convincing the recipient's body's immune system not to reject it), artificial lungs could be on the far horizon. Stay tuned...

I seem to remember reading somewhere that when Swarb wouldn't behave himself on tour, Martin Carthy would stand on his oxygen pipe until he settled down again  >:D  ;D. Swarb must have kept his sense of humour despite the nature of his illness.
