who wants to buy this for me....

I wouldn't buy it for me...... I would prefer folks to notice my playing rather than my fiddle  ;)

My fiddle came with a pretty tailpiece...  So, it  is sentimental to me.  In fact, when an expert-instrument-dude checked it out recently, he said, in effect..."Ditch the tailpiece!"  Well... I said, "Nope."  It's not nearly as elaborate as the one in your picture, Panira... it's just a sprig with a coupla flowers... but... I love it, and I think it's very pretty.

Don't listen to those (above) nim-rods!   >:D If ya like it... get it!

P.S.  I know nothing about tailpieces...  and what could possibly make one "better" than another...  A tailpiece is a tailpiece, sez I...   8)

Ooooo.  I like the first one posted there.  How are those extenuating lines created, sreize?  I mean, what is the artistic medium used to create those lines?   ???

I think they are carved from the ebony itself. I like Steve's fluted one, and that thistle design of Panira's sounds appealing. For a metal inset, I'd want something unique and distinctive, not a lyre or a clef, or a plain lozenge... but I don't know if I've got the engraving skills to carry it off (never tried ;D) and can't see paying someone else what good work would be worth. Better places to apply the limited supply of wealth, IMO.

As far as that shell-inlaid one at the top, put me solidly in the camp of the nimrods. For me, that's right up there with the pink guitar with heart-shaped soundhole that I saw up close the other day. No me guste.
I want to be a musician when I grow up.
Sorry, son, you can't do both.

Bees' got it right, the fluted tailpiece is carved out in shape and the light color is old dust.  I now have a clean one as that specific one had the corner break off and I was lucky enough to find a matching one (also old, out of one of the local luthiers "junk" tailpeices drawer).  Both are old mass production models.

Here are some (fuzzy) detail photos of the old broken one (the corner is glued on), darn phone camera takes lousy closeups, but I think they give a sense of the carving:
