Here's another session standard to go before the two jigs I posted above.

O.K., O.K.. My fault, it was in a PM!

24 tunes to date, with a couple I'll add myself.   If you want to include your's please post the ABC(s) here no later than the week-end.   That give me a few days to get them all printed and bound.

I have a question about AbcNavigator...on some of the tunes listed here (for instance The Hole in the Hedge and Paddy Fahey's, plus a few others), it seems to insert random notes at the beginning of the sheet music, even though they aren't listed in the ABC, and when I copy & paste exactly the same ABC into Concertina.net it works fine and the random notes aren't there. Does anyone have any ideas? I can't find a help file in the program...

I realise this is the wrong place to post this, but figured I would do so anyway because it's related to the FH tunebook!

Welcome to the forum colmac.
I found the programme didn't like the 'y's on Trish's 'Dmixy's.   I got there and the tune book is now almost complete.

If you like tunes you can see the free Sheet Music on the link above for Fiddle and Violin tunes.

Vitally.

(Edit- I removed the link. I can't see the tunes in there, and therefore cannot tell if any are copyrighted. We can't post copyrighted tunes. - Joe)

The reopening of this thread prompts the question "Is there going to be a FH 2007 Tunebook?"

If yes, I don't mind doing a bit of the spade work again.........................

What about stickers to fund the Vodka?   Sorry Nat, can you think of another idea?

I've come across this lad before - he sends similar stuff to lots of different violin/fiddle sites and has been blocked by some for spamming:

This tune is one of my favs, you gotta' get it up to around 140, well that's how fast Swarbs plays it, sounds great though. The 3/4 bars have to stay, I spent hours on half speed. I always repeat before the double/note section. And the long A at the end finishes it nicely after all that chugging.

Swarb used to tell a (probably apocryphal) story about the origin of this tune - he said it was composed by a condemned prisoner whose captor offered to let him go if he could play a tune on a completely de-tuned fiddle. The prisoner then made up The Nightingale on the spot and won his freedom. Hmm....
