Recordings of FH-UK
« on: June 15, 2006, 10:30:33 PM »
Did anyone get any recordings of the stage slots from the Friday and/or Saturday night? I'd like to hear it all again, and to see if I can actually play after being led astray drinking vodka all day >:D
Debut solo album, 'The Lark's March' out now. More info at triciaclark.co.uk

Trish...there was a youngish chap in a big flat cap and big square glasses and he sat at the table near the pa system ... dont know what his name was and I dont think he was an forum member either  ???....so he could have been a local ....(I never asked him are you local...we'll have no trouble here.... or anythink like that)  >:D...anyway he left a brand new untouched still in the wrapper mini disc on the table on Friday night (I think)  ???...and Mr Jim gave it back to him.....maybe he has a recording or two.....and maybe Graham will know who he was...I have a feeling he may have played drums at some point too.....wow my memory is bad... ??? ??? ???

That would be Brynn, the guy on the left in this pic from last year?

I *think* Heidi has recorded a lot of stuff on her minidisc. She is flying from Manchester to NYC right now, thus perhaps she will post the recordings in a couple of days.

Surely not Mark, you don't drink?!

Ok thanks guys, I'll send Reed an ol' text and see if he got it recorded from the PA. Hopefully Heidi's stuff's safe too  :-\

Don't worry, I'm sure Bree will protect Heidi's stuff and make sure she gets it all back safely!

The guy in the flat cap was Bryn. He did record some of the performances on mini disk but there where issues with the leads apparently. Most of the recordings came out in mono and some were damaged.
I'll get him to pass it on and then see what can be salvaged.

Alright, alright....stop yer whining!  I have the sacred recordings!!!  Muwahaaahaaaa!

I will get to work on them straight away.

Yes, the power of bree and the moosie necklace brought me a lot of luck in many ways.   ;D   Thanks, Suzanne, for the necklace. I ran into Jimmie, Ruthie and Jenna walking staggering back to the hotel from Cafe Nat's as I was awaiting the 3:30 bus to Manchester and they gave me the necklace. Wondered how I was gonna explain that one to a customs official, but no one questioned me.  LOL

I am going chronologically through the recordings, so here are some from Friday afternoon when people were wandering into the George and just playing together.  These were the only 3 that didn't have an inordinate amount of talking going on in the background.

Friday Aft. 1

Friday Aft. 2  (This is one or two people playing.  If it is you and you object, contact me via PM and I will delete it.)

Friday Aft. 3

Friday night is next.  Sound quality should be better as it was miced and louder.  More to come!!!

Re: the Friday night recordings, I will contact you to let you preview your playing and you can let me know if you want it posted or not.

Great job Heidi, thanks for those. I think the 3rd clip was where I got my fiddle out for the first time that weekend, but you can't really hear my not-warmed-up and far too sober scratching so I won't object yet. ;)

Keep em coming.

I know for sure I have you Simon, and you and Trish the next night also with the bodrahn (bohdran, bodhran...how do you spell that word anyway?) guy.   ;D

Well, I'm off on vacation (like I need another one, eh?) for the next 4 days, so more recordings will eventually appear.  LOL

Thanks Heidi... I'm looking forward to hearing that, in an 'intrigued whether drinking vodka all day from 11am is conducive to fiddling' sort of way ;)

Y'gotta ask... after teaching kindergartners all year? ;)

Think I'd have a serious drinking problem.

You have no idea!  The ankle-biters get to you after a while.

However, I am switching to 4th grade next year, so perhaps I'll have less of an alcohol problem.   ;)

OK Heidi - so that glittering stud on your ear was really a wireless mic, and the secret recorder was in your purse? Well, I never!

OK, I confess - Friday Aft. 2 was me leading off "Over the Waterfall", and Friday Aft. 3 is me trying to get some support for "My Darling Asleep" and "Haste to the Wedding"....

Brilliant afternoon and evening, with some fine players and very nice people too.
