Once the Fiddle Hell site is updated all photos will appear there... but until now, I've chosen four photos and a video which, in my opinion, completely tell the story as to what Fiddle Hell is (in my opinion).

Graham, Pete, Jim and Berni, Pete's brother.

Actualy my brother Berni (not cousin), it was a great bash! I estimate the time of that recording to be about 2 am Sunday morning and that some of the players can only just about remember it happening! Marks voice saying he's going to fall over says it all!

I had sooo much fun!  I have 100's of pics that I will upload--well, some of them--when I return home.  My favorite pic is the main table with 10 or so violins on it and bows and beer everywhere.  For me that pretty much sums up the whole event.   ;D  ;D

Wish I could come next year!!   :(

Ok, because Trish asked, this is the one photo I took which didn't come out extremely blurred (I don't really remember taking it, but never mind!):

Bree from a slightly different angle!

I just watched the video.  Now I know why it's called Fiddle HELL:

'Cause some of you play like it!  >:D

Wow, that was painful!  Is the rest of FH that jumbled and screechy?  I don't think I could stand being there if that's the way it is.  :(

Huh?  Did we watch the same video?  ???  Little rough around the edges, but pretty darn good for improv.  You should be so lucky as to go and get tortured by those three fiddlers.  Nice job fellas.  ;)

I liked Pete's playing.

(And I'm safe to say that 'cause I didn't recognize anyone else.  Who could not recognize Pete's bald head?)

And I'm sure y'all are decent players... just maybe not at 3am when you're inebriated.

I can't get the video to open, but I'm very curious to hear gc, Pete and Jim being jumbled and screechy. Apparently I was in a different Buxton. ;)

Well I thought the playing was nice (especially considering the amount of boooooze) ... but don't forget this was a camera taking the video which a 1 cent microphone built in.. Jim (Worldfiddler) and Graham Clark were the other two players...

Finally managed to get the video open. I think it's great lads, dunno what's wrong with it for Rhonwyyn. Couldn't hear any scratching, either on the video or from my perch on the stairs where I remember I was during that little improv session! And they're a little more than decent players. ;)

Mark; "I'm gonna fall over in a minute." ;D That just about sums up Saturday night for us then!

Didn't get to watch that video till today. If only I'd have been 15 years younger I wouldn't have needed the sleep so much and wouldn't have missed seeing and hearing it live   :'(

Sounded cool to me too, I regret not being there for the live version!

Perhaps she needs to be chained to a post for 24-48 hours to listen to some real fiddle music. ;) Too much of that lawng-hair'd "violin" schtuff!

If that doesn't work... banishment to M***tronet! :)

Man, add some munchies to the mix and that sounds more like a Fiddle Heaven than a Fiddle... Heck! I'm sure the people are the most important part, tho.

All right.  I went back and listened to the recording again.  Pete, I'd recognize your playing anywhere.  It's crystal clear and very lyrical.

I can't comment on the rest of y'all because everything blended together in a big mess.  Who was keeping the beat?  Was there a beat?  Were some of you guys trying to play harmonies along with Pete's melody/descant?  Maybe there's too much classical in me yet to appreciate a session like that, but honestly, it sounded like y'all were playing each to his own drummer.  (For the first few minutes I thought y'all were trying to keep up with a pre-recorded accompaniment track that Pete was leading, but the more I listened, the more it seemed to fall apart, so I ditched that idea.)

I'm not trying to offend everyone here, and like I hope I said before, I'm sure y'all are great players.  To my ear, however, it just sounds like a confusing mess of rhythms and keys.  :-(
